How the figures are computed
Equal-weighted, unless a figure says otherwise
A category's return is the plain average of the schemes in it, not an average weighted by their assets. A reader buys one scheme rather than the whole category, so each scheme counts once regardless of its size — and a category carried by one very large fund reads as what it is.
Direct plans, Growth option
Every return on the site is a Direct-plan figure. Regular-plan returns run roughly a percentage point lower for the same portfolio because of distributor commission, so the two cannot be compared and are never mixed.
Trailing returns are annualised past one year
1W, 1M, 3M and YTD are the plain change over the window. 1Y, 3Y and 5Y are compound annual rates. A three-year figure of 12% means 12% a year, not 12% in total.
Calendar-period returns do not overlap
The by-period grids report each completed year, quarter and month on its own. Trailing windows overlap by construction, so one strong run lifts every figure in the row; a calendar grid shows that run once, in the period it happened.
Heat colour is scaled per column, not per table
A one-week return of 1.2% and a five-year return of 18% a year are both strong. One shared colour scale would paint the short-window half of a table blank and the long-window half solid. Each column is shaded against its own largest absolute value, because the comparison a reader makes is down a column.
Colour is never the only encoding
Every signed figure is printed with its sign and, where it is a headline, an arrow. A reader who cannot separate the red from the green loses the reinforcement and not the meaning.
Industry assets are AMFI's quarterly average
Assets under management are the average for the quarter as AMFI publishes them, not a month-end snapshot. Net flows are the monthly release and are stated for the month they cover.
Ratings are within-category percentiles
A scheme's score places it against the other schemes in its own category, not against the whole market. A liquid fund and a small-cap fund are not graded on one curve.
Where the data comes from
AMFI — Association of Mutual Funds in India
Scheme master data, NAV history, monthly net flows by category and sub-category, and quarterly average assets under management.
SEBI — Securities and Exchange Board of India
Scheme categorisation, the market-capitalisation bands that define large, mid and small cap, and public issue filings.
NSE and BSE
Index levels and constituents, equity prices, and the bid books behind public issue subscription figures.
Scheme portfolio disclosures
The monthly holdings each asset manager publishes. Allocation and sector figures are those disclosures summed — nothing is inferred.

End-of-day index price history for the curated index series.
72Money research
Scores, curated themes and published notes are produced in-house from the data above. Where a figure is ours rather than a source's, the page says so.
